I think you're right. the Monkees were as you may know put together for a tv-show after the success of A Hard Days Night. Although never written in the show, I think they played a band who tried to be as good as The Beatles.But yeah, the musical influences are pretty easy to notice. Just compare Last Train to Clarksville to Paperback Writer. But that doesn't mean the Monkees are bad; I think they are one of the best bands out there

Well said,I don't know how they can call the rubbish that's out there music because it isn't.It's funny how you have to go back for the great music while here in the present and probably the future all we are getting is garbage.

The Monkees were underrated,they were a great band and should've gotten more recognition than they did,they were every bit as good as all of the bigger bands of the time but didn't get the same treatment.You're right when you say he is such a great loss to the world because nobody can ever replace him,he was one of a kind.
