look the main cost f any aircraft or car or bike large depends on the engine..!!! if enginer is good expense automatically increase..!!! n engine used in Tejas is a good one..!! n d cost f tejas per unit is around 31million $ n that f chinese jf-17 is 16..!! n tejas has got good performance than jf17..!! no doubt n that..!! we r not comparing tejas with f22 or pak fa sumthing,,,..!! so its a very good aircraft in its league n nt above that...n d best part is it is desi..!! cheers!!!

@straightliner15 Kaveri GTX is being tested in russia ..it has been so far successful on Ilyushin testbed ...the kaveri engine is not a failed engine ..idk why people say its failed ...

@MrKasperabhay agree!!! but its quite good n first f all n above all its indian technology made..!! whole india ,every indian is proud on that..!! cheers!!!!!!!! the engine used is GTX-35VS Kaveri afterburning turbofan engine which is far better than good aircrafts chinese jf-17 n chengdu!!!...!! n the cost is as double as jf-17 which is 31 million$ per unit..!!!

according to the reports indian air force air superiority aircraft sukhoi 30-mki with brahmos missile and HAL tejas is one f the best in the world..!!! no doubt on that...!!!! n now india has got dassault rafale along with the technology..!!! thats great..!! in few years or a decade india will be the strongest airforce n stronget armed forces in the world...but for that india needs to do a lot of research in makingtheir own technology fighter planes n weapons(AMCA must be given prime importance!
