Interesting theory, comparativly adobe flash player isn't all that great a software when it comes to the web since every once in a while it suffers an error that makes you have to unistall it or the web browser and install it again and sometimes not even that works.I have not tried silverlight yet but what i've seen it can do,if things would go down as you say I think the Apple/Microsoft combo would win.

I Think That your Partly Right Apple does not want to use flash because it relies completely on software not hardware which relies on the cpu not the gpu for gaming ,video, etc.example: adobe flash can use up to 300.000 k on my machine just watching this when something like silverlight does it with my gpu it only uses like 20.00 K Look here tinyurl 26by5kj

Microsoft and Apple, will never be united - Microsoft came first and was the biggest ferm ever seen on the marked for IT when Apple still was in progress - Now when the marked is turned around because of Apples great ideas and work, Microsoft feel they have to "Copy" to follow the Marked, But when big ferms like Microsoft begin to "Copy" their "little brother" in the past it just feel more like a "Rip-off" for the consumer, us. I'll Support Apple, shame they dont copy and make the "Applebox360"

@watchyourst3p Apple worked with Microsoft to make damn sure silverlight would work on their OS. Apple was quoted as saying that silverlight follows the IEEE standards much better than flash which is why have haven't supported flash in the past.

if apple and microsoft unite, prices will be so high as there will be NO competition. fuck joining and cooperating, keep the war going on

True, Apple is Using HTML 5 , but not for multimedia .
the only available choice for multimedia is Silverlight, or they create there own thing.

Apple is planning to use HTML 5... just so you know, not silverlight...
I agree with you, though I would find it kind of ridiculous to have a thrid technology invented by Apple, with them investing tons of cash and man hours into something that already exists (Flash, Silverlight). Like re-inventing the wheel, imho.
