The only escapee of North Koreas most brutal prison camp has lived to tell us a story of unspeakable horror. Starved of food and common humanity, Shin proves that gulags are still a tragic reality.
"We were always hungry. Shins most vivid memory of his life in the camp is the constant hunger he felt, food made me escape, even if it was going to cost me my life. The only thing that interested me was the food. Before his escape three years ago, he didnt even know that a world existed beyond the barbed wires. Until then, his life had been one of torture, hard labour and complete isolation. My mother was supposed to inform on me and me on her. He believed she deserved her fate as he witnessed her execution. I blamed her. I had no real feelings as a kid. Shin didnt know love, only violence. Once the guards beat a little girl on the head so hard, she died the next day. He eventually escaped through a gap in a high-voltage fence. His charred legs still bear the scars. As horrible as it is, Shins story is not unique. Wang, himself a former prisoner, is a prominent writer on the subject. He believes that oppression in North Korea will keep increasing: The brutality of the system has grown to the point where Kim Jong Il now fears that he will suffer the same fate as Caucescu of Romania. He simply wants to kill all his enemies. "

  • This is an atrocity on the scale of the Nazis. Why is this not stopped and yet we are fighting pointlessly in Iraq?

  • How lovely that they gave the tourist presenter a present at the end of his trip...

  • So instead of debating the points like a normal person you keep using the 'stupid' insult over and over? Maybe your not smart enough to provide counter points to what i have stated so just keep insulting until someone takes notice of you, anyways, i'm done here, go ahead, 'comment flagged for stupidity' etc etc Doubt anyone cares, your not that important, enjoy trolling elsewhere^^

  • @flyingbluewaffle reply flagged for stupidity

  • @Rhexx18 Yeah, keep living in that little bubble of yours where governments truly care about their people and are fighting for their liberties (they're actually taking them away), oh snap.

  • @flyingbluewaffle i am gonna flag your comment for stupidity

  • I'm very glad for him however his almost nostalga for north Korea and the lack of interest and wonderment when he speaks of China and the western type material things he saw for the first time reminds me of people who were in a abusive cult and years laters after they have been out they start to reminisce about the cult and about how some things were good!

  • This is one war worth fighting.

  • You guys are dreaming if you think the sole reason the west won't make a move is because of nukes, wake up people, governments all around the word are only out for their best interests,if North Korea had tons of oil i can guarantee you that the US would be beating the war drums like it is doing with a certain other country at the moment and would have been determined to find a way in to get their hands on it(all the while stating they were doing it to free the North Korean people from oppression)

  • @miamivicepastels83 well no, since North Korean propaganda is in North Korea not here.. also, yes. We technically could use an exsisting system to block missles but they can still detonate mid flight, and destroy or pollute anything and everything around it. Then the good fun of radiation sets in and turns the planet into a fucking wasteland littered with a few mutated versions of survivalist species for the next 500 damned years.

  • @PhenomenalHeadShot "The reason is Nukes.".....clearly NK propaganda has succeeded

  • @lerkerofthenight 3rd person im telling this to tonight. The reason is Nukes. If we could take out their nukes mid flight we'd fuck their shit up.. but until then our hands are tied.. and if you remember correctly.. Iraq didnt have nukes after all.
