I have seen all of your videos of Stu and Mattie. I feel almost as attached to them as I do my own mice. Thanks for sharing them with us.

hey lately theres news spread about virus Leptospirosis that may come from rodents such as mice and hamster. i have pet hamsters and i love all of them, the thing is due to this rumors people start to take distance with rodents nevertheless my housemates. can u give me any opinion about this disease? is this virus has to come from all kind of rodents? or just from the wild critter only?

@kazoo61 I do not know a whole lot about zoonotic diseases of domesticated rodents, especially in tropical countries. Here in North America it is very, very rare for a pet hamster or mouse to carry a disease that affects humans. And then the human usually has to have a compromised (very weak) immune system to get it. In North America you really do not have to worry about getting sick from a pet mouse, as long as you take the usual precautions: keeping the cage clean/hand washing after handling.

@kazoo61 Wild mice are much more likely to carry diseases that affect humans than pet store mice. Domesticated mice are so removed from the wild ones that they rarely get the same diseases. Domesticated mice and hamsters, especially if they are kept away from wild rodents, are usually very safe pets to have. Dogs and cats that roam more freely are more likely to pass on a disease to humans, but even that is very rare......

How do you get them to stay on your lap, I have 3 females who just go crazy and never stop and don't want to be pet...

@DaeyangSi I hand raised Stuart and Matilda from when they were only three days old. They grew up thinking I was their mom and that they were either human or I was an extra large mouse. So they completely trust and love me. This is why a human raised mouse is a completely different animal from a mouse raised mouse........
