@hunsuj The Vezina trophy during this era was for fiewest goals against, not best goalie. You need to look at All-Star team selections and there Hall dominates Sawchuk... Rookie of the year eh? Sergei Samsonov was rookie of the year once, also in the IHL. What a great argument you got there!... Look, i aint debating that Sawchuk played on better teams than Hall and got more cups, but so does Chris Osgood compared to Dominik Hasek. Hall does have a Conn Smythe trophy though, Sawchuk aint.
@hunsuj I was referring both to when he was the starting goalie on the 1968 Blues team that lost in the finals, and the 1961 Black Hawks team that won the cup, wich you must have missed along with the following fact: He won three Vezina Trophies, a trophy wich by the way at the time of his, Plantes and Sawchuks careers was for fiewest goals against for the season. The only accolade at that time aiming to be presented to the best goalie was the first all-star team, hence that i did bring it up.
@theghr Sawchuk's achievements speak for themselves. 4 Vezinas; 4 Stanley Cups; First to win rookie of the year in all three pro hockey leagues (I'm sure I'll be explaining that too you later as well), 3 Stanley Cups for Red Wings in 5 years. In '51-'52 Stanley Cup playoffs he won in 8 straight games, getting scored on only 5 times, and finishing with a 0.63 GAA. Also, Hall languished in the Wings' farm system 4 so long cuz the "inferior" Sawchuk was their #1 Goalie. Prior to 2 goalie system ;)
@theghr OMG DUDE!!! Are you referring to when he took them there and lost? Because if you did, you are making my point for me. Ok, he won a Conn Smythe trophy in '68, but NO CUP for his team. He won ONE Vezina Trophy (do you even know what that is???) which he shared with Jaques Plante. "Glenn Hall outperformed Sawchuk on a constant basis". To support that statement, you refer to ALL STAR TEAM NOMINATIONS? SERIOUSLY?? For that 2 b true he then recorded a .063 GAA thru the playoffs and won a cup
@hunsuj Oh really? Where were you in 1961? ;) By the way, where do you get the "erratic"-part from, from when he took the 1968 expansion Blues to the Stanley Cup finals?
I find the discription of this video misleading becouse Glenn Hall outperformed Sawchuk on a constant basis. Seven first all-star teams to Sawchuks three, and the latter ones came before Glenn started in net. At the same time they are only three years apart so their careers went hand in hand, with Glenn just a constant half step in front of Sawchuk for most of the years. To me it's obvious that the unlucky Terrys career is hockeys answer to Bob Marley: His legend outperforms his actual career.

@theghr Glenn Hall NEVER led his team to a Stanley Cup as a player. In fact, when he did make it too the playoffs he was erratic.
