The gasket to the filler neck to gas tank dried up and leaked (couldn't fill the tank above half or it would splash out or seep out)
The local repair shop wanted 1200 to drop the tank and insisted upon buying a new tank AND a new neck from a junk yard across the country. (the gas tank is 5 months old)

TOOLS:
$8 tube of liquid metal sealer.
[you can buy this at any auto shop(napa, pep boys, anything)]

  • @DALE97DSM it could be a rusted tank depending on where you are. in such a case as yours where the exact point of leakage seems unknown it might be better to drop the tank and find out where it is. good luck!

  • My 1998 eclipse rs is doing same thing GAs will spill back out. I can't even put 5.00 in my car.

So, my problem is actually the gasket.

People told me it could be the safety check valve, vapor canister, or fuel vent valve.

Need help, I hate to buy this gasket and come to find out that didn't fix it.

There's No codes from the ecu,my fuel pump/ gauge is good.

  • what did you use to fix that? is it still holding up? i need some for my plastic gas tank on my dirt bike
