My daughter is a beginner too and she just makes things like the Fingerless Gloves and things like that to practice. Hope this helps :D Thanks for watching.

Try to do knitting and purling, in scrap yarn, as the tutorials show, before you start the hat.

One you have those 2 stitches learned, all else seems easier.
