When I was doing my literature research in Brgy Rogongon,Iligan City, I saw loggers deforesting woods in the highland. Then, to cut cost on transporting the logs, the loggers threw logs to the rivers letting the river carries the logs downhill. That was 6 years ago and now, a lot of people are paying the price.
go mayor emano.. its not iligal logging its the typhoon sendong who caused this mild disaster... and sendong promised to come back to ask for forgiveness..
i got a chance to listen to a segment called "punto por punto" in magandang umaga bayan (ABSCBN) and the rep from DENR said it wasn't illegal logging because the government gave permission to it... that's even sadder. :(
The CDO LGU guilefully enticed the poor and some mid-class to put up residence on the Isla de Oro (a river delta for God's sake!) knowing it can readily be submerged when the Cagayan River overflows. This fact knocked my head off...
Noticed the mayor appearing on TV when PNoy, Guingona and the like were in town. He was cool, calm, smiling and dressed in vainness. Hundreds dead and thousands homeless!
WTF did I just read?
