According to the credits, this scene is called the "Broken Forest" scene. Kicking Bird (Graham Greene) takes Dances With Wolves (Kevin Costner) to a sacred place...even sacred to Sioux enemies. This scene contains material deleted from the original movie version. Very powerful stuff. IMHO, the unedited version is way better than the original theatrical version because it gives so much more insight. The movie is amazing anyway and is my favorite of all-time.

  • would have been even more epic if justin bieber had co-starred.

  • look how gorgeous and long his hair is ....WOW

  • If they've these deleted scenes on DVD,I want it.

  • Can you buy the 4hour movie. ? Going to buy the long version. I was so moved by this movie all my life I feel like I never fit in. I think we treated the Indians poorly taken the land away to only have us tear it down building and building .I feel at peace in the woods. Wish I could talk to a true Indian ,. I felt this way all my life and wonder if I have Indian blood .

  • The Longer Version of Dances with Wolves is much better...IT fills in the big holes in the 2:25 version. The 3 hour plus version..much better...

  • Yes, I believe this is very near Jackson, Wyo. You can see Mt. Moran in the right side of the scene. It's the mountain with the flattish top. The mountain scene, combined with the slow flow of the Snake River and the golden early Autumn Aspens in the valley, make this scene absolutely spectacular.

  • @wtfman013 Thats one long film, i would have still watched it though lol

  • @sard37 the original version was over 4 hours long before costner trimmed it down

  • @FireHeart217 (Nice name) Wow, beautiful ranch-did you work there? How long if so & why did you leave? Are you still out west? I was in Vermont for 11 years and will be back next yr I believe-LOVE THE COUNTRY, great life, simple & NO STRESS!
