It's actually surprisingly empty during most weekdays in the summer, with the occasional YMCA camp group, etc. You should go!

@Benj3897 Yes, this is in the Smoky Mountain National Park which does allow you to fish the streams within the park for an additional fee at the Ranger Station.

where is this located? how close to asheville?
are there fun outdoor things to do around here that are year-round?

@hsl7607 1 mile hike from the Big Creek parking lot on the eastern edge of the Smokies off I40 near the the TN/NC state line. You will see a trailhead that say Midnight Hole 1 mile. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are 30 minutes away that do have plenty of activities year round.

Hi, It is in Big Creek in th Smoky Mountain State Park, which is off I40 near the NC/TN State Line. The hole is 1/2 mile hike up the trail from the parking area at the end of the Big Creek gravel road into the park. It is called Midnight Hole.
