In 2009, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District was recognized by the CDC for its nationally-recognized H1N1 flu response in Champaign County, Illinois. The Champaign Urbana Public Health District organized the county effort with dozens of health agencies, individuals, businesses and organizations that resulted in the immunization of 53,000 residents.
