  • The mining communities were populated by the best people in the world.

  • @steveeholmes Hi, I have just found this video...My gran and grandad lived at 9 Westcroft Terrace, Ina and Tom Brown. He worked as a miner at Harrington 10. My mother was Jean, with sister Edna who still lives in Whitehaven, she's 82 now. I used to lie in bed, in the back bedroom, and watch the wheel with the light on top...I liked Lowca, the old boys used to sit on a bench up top up by the pub. There was a mobile chippy too....

  • I don,t really know why i am looking at this?My Grandad worked down this Pit in the 1960's. His name was Wilfred 'whiff' Johnstone. I just remember his face being full of blue bits he received when he was caught up in a blast. He later went on to become the landlord of the Wheatsheaf Inn, birks rd. Cleator Moor RIP Grandad
