In order to cast a spinning reel, open the bale up, hold the rod with the right hand and the line with the index finger, leave a bit of line out, and then simply throw the line out. Discover how a spinning reel helps to prevent tangles with help from a fishing trainer in this free video on using a spinning reel.

I am just getting into fishing. Bought a medium rod (4lb - 15lb) and a reel. What size of fishing line should I use? Someone recommended a 4 lb. I want to go for a line I could use for a while. I would like to do bass and trout fishing. Would like to take my gear with me when I travel overseas.
Are bass and trout top of bottom feeders? Depending on what your answer is, what should i get for floats or sinkers?
Finally, what baits should I buy?
Can u recommend a book for a novice?
Thanks.
