It is normal, that bubbles only one cell, where is electrode. A new battery does the same.

do not light a match or you might have a really bad day!

@guyzzemf What's that suppossed to do??
-
The bubbling is electrolysis occurring in the battery, thats hydrogen and oxygen being spewed out, explosive, make sure your in a ventilated area.

You do know that type of battery is a AGM (absorbed glass mat), and as such is a 'starved electrolyte' battery?. Meaning there isn't any free liquid (like in a car battery), instead it's all held in the mat separating the plates. Adding more water is BAD - you weaken the acid.
Anyway, that fizzing cell is probably due to warped plates touching inside the cell, shorting the cell out. It's pretty much toast... :)

After left standing for a few days, the battery now reads zero volts...
I briefly tried a cold charge, it went upto about 1.1volts but as soon as itook it off, it dropped to zero again...
