This is to spread knowledge on the truth of what created the Indian Blood laws. If you have any questions ask. Also this goes into why DNA tests don't prove that African American are not of Native descent

  • @chulah12

    FAIL.

  • @mcelite14 the family enrollment. Even though all their cousins are enrolled because their ancestor missed the census rolls they're excluded..and the fact that you can never become more native but less with the blood quantum laws it's such a mess it's funny how they don't do that to African Americans...oh are you 1/8? Oh well then you can't mark down African American lol

  • @GunBroker100 yea i guess i did make it sound simple lol however i have learned that it is mostly a different situation for tribes in the east coast and from the southeast of having the bigger issue of proving heritage due to lost documentations or falsified documentations i.e. a person being put down as mullato or negro when they were native..which lead to a lot of ppl who should be enrolled being excluded or my favorite having an ancestor that didn't live in indian terr. cost

  • @GunBroker100 Due to the treatment of Natives, many thought being anything else was preferable. The Cherokee require no less than 25/100 for tribe or band enrollment. This in hopes of marriage between tribal families preserving the blood lines. Racist, I suppose to some. Marriage to non Natives is the same, and the children will because of a member parent. The spouse will not. I've done genealogy for admissions for years. It not as simplistic as you make it sound.

  • You jave to be able to prove direct blood lineage to tribal member on one of the original Indian registry rolls. Dawes, Gideon, etc. As per tribal custom and/or treaty a certain percentage of Native blood is also required for enrollment. Some may not like it, but, it has never been the custom of native tribes to accept non-natives. Were there exceptions in some tribes, yes. Was this the norm, no. Most who were not included in the rolls, choose not to identify themselves as Natives. Cont,,

  • @GunBroker100 absolutely true we were here 1st. My video is to help people understand the issue of blood quantum and explain how some ppl came to be mixed bloods. I'm enrolled but I have family that isn't when they should that goes deeper into I think I talked about it in the 3rd or 2nd of this vid but explained why ppl can't get enrolled when they should be if ur not blood then no u shouldn't be enrolled unfort. not all of us were listed when they should have been cause of racism

  • @mcelite14 Point taken. Now try to stay with me. Natives or Indians, whatever label one chooses, the fact remains WE were here long before any other group. Ergo, our origins have nothing to do with any of them. Therefore, the title of your videos is misleading and incorrect. This is nothing more than a foot note in Native history. Sounds like yet another attempt to open membership to anyone who claims Native heritage. If you have the card your a Native, if not, then you aren't. Simple.

  • @GunBroker100 as a native to a native first off what I'm saying isn't my opinion but I just literally read peer reviewed sources from experts. 1st off in no way am I saying that native origins is mixed with black all around. You have the five civilized tribes and the tribes on the East coast that did mix with Africans we can't deny that. 2nd Those specific tribes had very heavy interactions with Africans cause they were slaves also and alot of mixed bloods have African blood

  • @chulah12 So? All that means is most blacks have white blood, considering blacks make up 13 % of the general population. Whats your point?

  • @XxNaTiVeBaBiiDoLLxX Thanks. I guess I retain my peoples distrust of the invading groups. Our history since Columbus has been one of lies, deceit, and murder. Unlike now, it hasn't always been "cool" to be an Indian. Most don't realize, blacks and women, other than Native women, got the right to vote before Natives did. Until the 1980's we were often deprived of our lands to mining and other interests. We have suffered for more than others. So yeah, I guess I'm a bit jaded.
