When Dr. Alexander says "traditional creation theology", he's talking about a non-literal interpretation of the first chapters of Genesis, NOT Young-Earth Creationism. It's traditional because most of the Church did not hold a literal viewpoint for much of its history, until fairly recently. And Alexander isn't saying that we should disregard evolution at all. Do your homework instead of jumping to conclusions about him, people.

Evolution explains a lot more than "the origins of biological diversity".

This guy doesn't understand what Atheism actually is or who atheists actually are. A literal interpretation of Genesis doesn't work because it is directly contradicted by the evidence. Evolutionary theory has nothing directly to do with Atheism or Religion. It is simply the best current explanation of the evidence we observe based on current paradigms.
That said, this man sounds like he's wandered off the beaten path.
It's fun to see atheistic fundamentalists treat Denis like he's some young earth creationist. They clearly have no idea who he is and his stellar scientific background. They'd fit in well with actual young earthers though, since the mindset is the same.
