A short film documenting The Scottish Open Chainsaw Championship 2008
The sixth annual Carrbridge Gathering and Scottish Open Chainsaw Carving Championship saw a record number of 20 international carvers from as far afield as the USA, Australia and Germany competing for the prestigious Claymore Trophy.
Each competitor had four hours to create a winning sculpture from an eight foot-long log. There was also a Quick Carve section and Grand Auction with visitors invited to bid for all the sculptures created during the day.
The winner was legendary chainsaw carver, Pete Bowsher from Moffat who took the championship title for the fifth time with his Midnight Hour carving of a howling wolf and moonlight owl.
In second place was Brett McLean from New Jersey USA and third was Iain Chalmers from North Kessock, Inverness.
The People's Choice winner was Andy McLachlan from Dunoon.
The day long event also included a jam packed programme of gala day activities and entertainment. More information can be found at www.carvecarrbridge.com
