Unfortunately, the rumors were apparently true... This was posted on the TMZ web page...

TMZ confirmed with Valley Center PD ... on May 14 they responded to a suicide call at Hughes' home. According to the police report, officers concluded Matt, who was still breathing, was drinking before the suicide attempt.

I, along with a lot of others, will choose to remember Matt in the best light.. when him and the rest of the TIV team hit that last tornado.

I morn his loss... and will remember him

I think that its rediculas when someone reads something on the internet and takes it for fact and posts it everywhere they can. Matt attempting to commit suicide is just speculation and had not beed confirmed or denied by onyone with credibility. so please lets stop posting things like that about someone you never knew. It can tarnish someone memory of him and his family. so please unless you know something as fact lets just keep it to yourself

matt hughes was checked into a hospital a few days earlier before he passed away for depression. it has not been confirmed but rumored that he attempted suicide. he has a long history of depression.check out his biography. rip matt. awesome video jdeluxtornadochaser.

@justjoan82 I know right? People who assume depression isn't anything serious and those who commit suicide is a joke is beyond comprehension. Depression is nothing to be laughed at. I'm sad we lost Matt. :(

he was great in the show, but I do not respect people who commit suicide, especially ones who are not deadly sick or in constant pain without chance of recovery....
