http://www.ted.com Salman Khan talks about how and why he created the remarkable Khan Academy, a carefully structured series of educational videos offering complete curricula in math and, now, other subjects. He shows the power of interactive exercises, and calls for teachers to consider flipping the traditional classroom script -- give students video lectures to watch at home, and do "homework" in the classroom with the teacher available to help.

  • I'm not sure how I stumbled upon TED, but because I did, I found Khan Academy, and because of Khan Academy I decided to re enroll in college after almost 10 years without schooling. Sal has inspired me to love learning again. Thank you Salman Khan, and thank you TED

  • Loving this education model. I really wish this would have been available when I was in school. I can see this going somewhere.

  • since when is an 80 a C? like wtf.... lolz

  • @cowpacino this comment makes me want to cry because I know exactly what you mean.

  • 35 people misclicked the I LIKE button xD

  • Rather than focus on financial gains or power, like so many people do, Salman Khan instead diverts all his energy and attention to providing an exceptional, extensive online library in which people can empower themselves with knowledge. Khan and staff have restored my faith and confidence in my learning potential and have inspired and greatly encouraged my desire to empower myself with knowledge. May you live long, happy and wonderful life Mr. Khan. Thank you so much!

  • Machines are here to take us, let there be no doubt.

  • wonderful !!!

  • @abram730 - thanks for the link i just start watching it. Thats exactly what i'm talking about I think. the ominous impending loss of PERSONAL computers, in favor of centralized again. and yet people are doing it willingly.

You want your most important data in your pocket, not on the cloud owned by someone else.

  • @abram730 -

iPad frustrates me enormously. the "rasperri pi" is similar chips, yet presented as a proper computer.

There's a danger that with cloud computing individuals will stop buying "tool" computers altogether, and you have a population of cabbages, customers assumed to be lazy and stupid, deskilled even below "reading & writing" (fingerprinting on iPad.. picture instructions..) just waiting for evolution to eliminate them as an extraneous organ...
