God is perfect. Him making us with freewill was for a purpose. If we did not have freewill we would be robots really incapable of choosing if we believe in something or not. God did not want us to be that way he let us choos to love and believe in him or not.

Just as a father deals with a son that does not do as he says so does God. God is our creator and in doing so we should obey him. God did not creat hell for us but for a disobediant angel named lucifer and the other angels that followed him. God however has to use hell as a punishment for us because just as lucifer disobeyed God so do we.
