I'm glad Jono Bacon came up with this. Many people need to understand that everyone has their own opinions and not everyone will entirely agree with them.

definitely a great vlog and website. all hate does is waste time and resources that could be better spent working together to make things better for all.

The OpenRespect statement, in terms of a grass roots political action movement seems like a romantic idea, but in the culture we live, being romantic means Roman, as in Byzantine. Culturally we have been engrained with values which will counter any progress which could be made by that statement. Hegemony for serfs! Sorry if that sounds glass half empty but it seems we are taught only to invoke respect/honor in the face of authority, force (ability) and as an investment tool for projected gain.

Geez.. Finally someone that actually has their act straight. Jono Bacon has earned SO much respect from me.

Niceeffort twds unification of Opensource people,thankfully there are alternatives to opensource software which is awesome,you don't have to choose a distro for software where you have multiple options;which enables better experience.
Finally,I want to see it as a unification against big trolls, M$,Apple but I don't want to feed them by creating hostility between open source people. As MS is trYing to hurt OPENOFFICE,I would like to see people standing against M$; that's how I want to see it.

i doubt it will make a difference... it actually sounds quite gay to me... i mean ... trolls will be trolls and the other people were already getting along ... i really don't see anyone changing their attitude fundamentally because a website tells them to

@TWILTalks FYI The OpenRespect link in the description has a comma at the end of the url, which breaks it.
I don't respect when somebody has an idea but gives little or no logical reasoning to back it up, but then says that's how it's going to be because they are in a position of power. In this situation they should expect everybody to criticize, not claim we are not showing respect.

@Gerrrry fixed, thanks.
That's part of the point of the site, is making sure that you have reasoning to back up whatever argument you participate in. That's where part of the openrespect decree falls apart, is with trolls...
