Or "Denmarketing in America". What was once a transplanted enclave of traditional Danish culture evolved into a microcosm of the global tourist industry as it embraced the American Dream. Local filmmaker Ethan Turpin reexamines his hometown and finds that windmill spoons and little gnomes actually can make magic - along with piñatas and handy-cams.
Funny thing is that it looks nothing like Denmark...

Not quite the happiest place on earth.... but the campiest, yes!
A cultural steriotype reduced to it's most potent a stage. Yet sadly there are few real Danes left to give the place any honesty. The bakeries and restaurants aswell are more Mexican than they will ever be Danish again. I say this having lived and worked "back stage".
Still the village is a wonderful place visit though I worry it will never be able to reclaim the former glory it once knew during the seventies and early eighties.

Fantastic little video. It has a nice and approachable perspective that's insightful and not brooding. Good job.
