This is a super loooooong UP Freight at Santa Clara. The Freight has a rare SP patched SD45! If you don't want to see the entire Freight train, skip ahead to about 6 min into the video to see the Amtrak Capitol passing.

  • Nope. I just take videos :-)

  • No, I didn't lol. But I'm guessing the number was around 50.

  • That's hilarious, I caught this same train about 50 miles south of here at Elkhorn. You should have caught two baretable trains shortly behind this QRVPX. Reason it was slow is it changed crew in SJ.

  • I didn't know the Capitol went thru Santa Clara... BTW, did you count the number of cars on the UP freight.

  • The SD45 used to be SP #8595. It is now officially called SD40M-2 (UP #2671) and unfortunately, its 20 cylinder engine was replaced with a 16 cylinder one, an SD40-2 equivalent. Nice catch!
