LONDON: On World Malaria Day 2011 LSHTM Audio News reports that an experimental form of vaccination for malaria — published in The Lancet by Professor Robert Sauerwein from Nijmegen University in The Netherlands — has given protection against the disease and should help scientists understand the immune processes to be harnessed to achieve effective vaccination. Professor Brian Greenwood from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine talks about the research findings which he assessed in an accompanying comment article he co-wrote for The Lancet.
