Jarred, the sweet plucker and Pepper, the fiesty skeeting Quaker are featured here. All 6 are at my house now. This may be temporary....or not. I do love them all and 6 is a lot of sweeties to take care of! They will always have a home with me or someone that I know loves them . (Jaared and Pepper were with someone else for nearly 2 years and recently came back to me on on 6/8/2009).
Hi Callie Thx for the info. Right now Jaared getsRoudybrush pellets, which are non colored and I supplement his diet with fruit and vegetables. I am a vegetarian (altho I eat fish) so he gets the beans and rice and I've tried "crazy corn" which has beans corn, peppers etc and is available at pet stores. I tried the sprouts in the past but I got spooked about the inherent bacteria. I will go to the web site tho, I also bought this sprouted type plant & put in his cage but it just scared him. :-(

Are you a member of the FeedingFeathers group on Yahoo?? That would be an awesome place for your to check out.
I've heard that Eclectuses need LOTS and LOTS of fresh veggies, cooked beans, pastas and sprouts. I personally might try weaning him onto some Foundation Formula pellets, offered only in the evenings or so, and feeding him mostly a fresh diet consisting of Shauna's MASH [what I feed all of my birds!] I also feed lots and lots of sprouts, which helped Dusty, my plucker. :]

Ok, maybe stick to Rock 'n 'Roll or Jazz dancing... Tap dancing may end in a squishy failure, or fractured ankles...

Hi Captmicha! Jaared & Pepper used to live w/me for most of their lives so now they are back again. They all know each other, but I do understand what you are saying about quarrentine. That's got nothing to do w/the fact that they could have something contagious now. Jaared is on non-colored pellets, Roudybrush & he's had the Harrisons in the past. Ck. out Jaared, The Sweet Plucker After His Shower video & you will see a list of the things that have been tried, unfortunately to no avail.

How come you don't quarantine them first before putting them in the same with with your birds?
That's too bad about him plucking. All I had to do was switch to pellets and spend more time with my Clover and she stopped. I wish all birds could be cured as easy.

Birds are complicated. Her cage separates her poop from where she walks, etc, so who knows. i just have to accept it, prepare for it, recognize it and move on, and.....I still love her, regardless, so it's just a part of having her as one of my parrot companions (flock)

Wow, none of my birds have ever done this.
Could it be that he doesn't want his poop in his cage (environment)???

Here are the grisley details. Any parrot that has a long tail and presses their body against the cage and they "skeet' their poop out, onto the floor or whatever is near! One day I was in the bird rm slow dancing with a friend when I felt warm birdie poop oozing down my arm. Pepper had "skeeted". It usually ends up on the linoleum floor by her cage.

I'm in Australia and I have never heard of a 'skeeter'. Please enlighten me, I really have no idea.
