In honor of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama's, visit to UCSB, a sand mandala was created by a group of monks. They spent a week creating it inside the University Art Museum, and after completing it, they took it apart in a beautiful ritual. They took the sand down to the beach and dumped it in the water . . . in hopes that the blessed sand would spread throughout the world.
