Rita's classic, but I like the earlier versions with Gloria Swanson and a young Joan Crawford...there's an air of the roaring 20's in both films that give substance and depth to the story.

come on she was great, beautiful woman on her 30s....I love her!

I suppose it helped, proportion-wise that MM was a little bustier. Still, I know what you mean. I sure was distressed at how Mariyln was photographed in alot of "Let's Make Love." And MM WOULD insist on those belly-revealing gowns. I love Rita in "Affair In Trinidad," too. All her movies. I think she had the post exquisite profile--that jawline!

Ummm...Rita was in her thirties and had had two children. She looks damn good. And, she's NOT supposed to look glam here. As for Marilyn, whom I adore, she was not exactly a thin slip of a girl during most of her career.

she is beautiful...unfortunately in this movie she gained some weight and her figure is not slim anymore...esp. compared to Marilyn whose star was just raising this same year...

By far and away the best adaption of Somerset Maugham's short story, 'Rain'. I lived briefly in Samoa and discovered Sadie Thompson did actually lived there and operated as a prostitute and a laundry worker. Drunk in the gutter one night, she was put on a steamship bound for Australia and never heard from thereafter.

Very good use of Rita's performative skills as dancer, actress, movie star. Am a fan of Jose Ferrer, but her's such a hypocrite a-hole in this film. I wish Rita had kept making films after this. Her next film was 4 years down the road. Sad.

Love Love Love Rita in this movie, the movie could have been better, but its worth it just for her performance.
