Our observations were of chairs from the College of Design library. Our group was very productive during the brainstorming process. We all met up during the work time with some ideas in mind. We decided to use cardboard as our material because of its ease of access. The group decided to do an interlocking chair because it provided the stability necessary while also limiting the amount of material used. At the end of our brainstorming we decided to make our own models using the interlocking design and bringing them together the following week so we could collaborate further. The sample models let the entire team see every idea. The chairs came in a variety of shapes and sizes. We chose the design we have for many reasons. The resourceful thing about the chair is that its easy and cost efficient. After the full scale model was produced, it was time for our first test. Unfortunately the chair wasn't as stable as predicted. Our solution: add support in the center of the chair. After designing, collaborating, failing, and fixing, our chair is now perfected.
