This is my car 1999 e46 328i problem, i though it was the MAF problem , so i unplugged the MAF as my friend teach me to do, but the problem still right here, as you see the rev is jumping up and down at a low speed and low rpm, when i keep a steady gas (just a little bit gas on it) the car will simply lose the power ,and the rpm start jumping up and down, and then some ''BO BO '' sound come from the back like a misfire,
i use OBD II scan few time , first time there is three code come up 1,EU III P0340 exhaust camshaft sensor ,2, OBD II P1580 ;EUIII P0505 engine throttle mechanic fault(sluggish/stuck) ,3,Signal airmass flow sensor(BODII P0101;EUIII P0101),
then i clear the code, clear the ICV ,throttle body, then check again ,all code gone and IDLE rpm very good, steady, but rpm jumping at low speed problem still here. I check the data long term and short term fuel trim, percentage is Long term:-0.4 % Short term is +0.13% .seen no vancum leak.
Then i take my car to reprogramme my DME,but no help at all.

Do any one had an idea what's my car problem? It had trouble me about one more months. Can anyone help me?!

  • Guys - my 2003 320i is facing the same problem. I have already changed the sparkplugs, cleaned fuel injectors, changed fuel pump and the issue is still there. There are no codes. Any idea what could it be?

  • That is an "extra-large" video. =p

  • guys i had the same problem with my KIA, and i was so freaking worried about it, and i found out what is the problem exactly, it's one of two things, either it's the fuel injector or the Race system, what you have to do is to clean the fuel injector in a trusted company, and use original products, obviously the company will be providing it, and after you done cleaning walk on the car for at least 2 days, if you saw a change then it's just fine, if not, then get a new RACE system.

  • hi there iam having same problem in my e46 and it's driving me crazy. did u zoom into the problem and fix it? plz let me know ASAP! thanks in advance

  • I found the problem. I had two of them. The O2 sensors where stuffed and the torque converter also needed to be reconditioned. Not cheap but drives as good as new now!

  • In case might help. My car also lost power and had the similar issue. It could only reach 40km while going uphill while usually 70-80. I replaced the O2 sensor and maf. Costly but now the car s fine and powerful as new
