I think it´s a beautiful story about a very disgusting history, the end of paganism in Alexandria by the Christian religious fanaticism.

She was a teacher and ahead of her time, She was Killed for more, because she was an atheist, she was murdered because at the time, like today more or less, the world was governed by Men and you couldn't have an intelligent woman. In my Opinion Mary Magdalene was a teacher and the same happened to her, except she was tarnished by men and labeled her as a Whore, becos she was a woman, Oh FYI. The Bible was written by Male Chauvinistic brains. Paradoxically its happening with Muslim religion.

Atheist? Does the poster realize that "atheist" and "pagan" are very different? An atheist does not believe in God or Gods, or a supreme power.

te, he yeah, the protests against movies like 'Harry Potter' & the 'Golden Compass' are small fries compared to the knee-jerk reactions by todays Christian mobs I sense will be launched when they find out about this movie.

From what I can tell, this movie about Hypatia really appears to be based on a true story.
