its part of the initiation of the assassin. to commit the blades user, to the creed. thats why you don't see templars, or other people running around with it. they don't got the devotion, needed to hack off they're own fingers in order to use a hidden blade!

this is the kind of video, that made me want to get a 360. when i got one, one of the first games i rented was this. so many good memories, and now i just bought the sequel, and my 360 decides to give out on me. i feel like crap.
