My grey puts his paw out whenever I stop petting him for a moment. And if I ignore that, he head butts me in the side.

i think that is how dogs say thank you when they out there paw up...my dog usually does it to push me off the couch!

I can't believe that was his first day in your house, he looks so calm and gentle. <3 What a sweetheart.

Aww, thats really sweet :) Teddy doesnt like taking any food from us at all which is very surprising, considering our last dog would be at our side in a second once it heard chocolate wrappers. Teddy only accepts yogurt out of a pot on occaisions...everything else is mostly untouched. He can go very funny when he hears certain sounds too, like seagulls, echoey voices, monkeys and a new discovery, spray cans.
would love to see a follow up now that he's probably more relaxed and adjusted!!! what a lucky boy that he found such a loving family . . .

He is much more relaxed now and it's lovely to see. He still needs a lot of attention and will ask constantly for fuss.

@davidbgreensmith just watched your lovely vid of Tom,s 1st day, we rescued our greyhound in sept 2010 and for the 1st few days she wouldn,t let herself relax she even slept in the sphinx position, but now 9 months on what a difference, its amazing what patience and a lot of love can acheive. Hope Tom is still doing well.

@doormousesixtyfour Tom is fine. We had a couple of bumpy months when he didn't quite figure out that the indoor trees and floor standing lamps weren't the same as outdoor ones but he soon learned. He is a much more confident dog than he was, although he is still quite nervous some times. They are amazing dogs.

Out greyhound (Teddy) found it hard to even look at us when we first got him, which was a surprise since we had a dog before him who was always part of the family. Teddy always treated himself like a lodger and didnt always want to be around us, judging by the scars he has we think he got treated very badly. A year on hes now accepted himself into the family without any problems :) greyhounds are amazing, enough said. :D

Tom is very nervous of sharp sounds - like cutlery on a plate. Also, if you give him a treat he takes it away somewhere private. I think he's been teased in the past. When he takes something from you he is so gentle it's amazing - all the time looking at you with those liquid brown eyes as if to say "I can really have this?" He is great.
