I did this last week.....! Going up the 600m elevation to Namche from Phakding took a tough 3hrs, coming down in the fabulous pouring rain 1hr only.
For the locals though, they allow 1hr to go up, & 20mins to come down, which I saw with the kids sprinting down the rock steps....a real sight to see....!
If you only ever do one thing in life trekking-wise, it should be this....a life-changing experience begins on this very walk.

I trekked this region in 2006 (4 years ago) and some buildings in this video definately weren't there when I was there.

it wasn't so bad, Phakding to namchee bazaar is intense, monzu was awesome and had some amazing spaghetti :)

its a lot more devoloped that i imagined. the accomodation is like normal houses.
