The last two KAIAC Tournaments had seen two second place finishes for the Yongsan International School Guardians, falling behind 9-time-champions Seoul Foreign School Crusaders with a 4-0 loss in 2008 and a narrow 2-1 loss in 2009. Though the Crusaders were relatively less aggressive and as effective as the previous Crusader sides had proven to be - with the likes of record-breaking Remco Rademaker (class of 2008) and Ernst Dencher (class of 2009) - Andrew Park (class of 2010) and captain Ben Neumann (class of 2011) had proven themselves worthy of the same praise that their alumni had received as they won the APAC Championship title just weeks before their semi-final leg against Seoul International.

But this year's final was not about the Crusaders.

Seoul International Tigers had made it through to the semi-finals after winning a highly entertaining grudge match against Taejeon Christian International Dragons 3-2 in the quarter-finals, but no one expected Eddie Cho (class of 2011) to score an upsetter against Seoul Foreign Crusaders in the semi-finals. After playing tight defense for the rest of the match and withstanding against the Crusaders' terrifyingly close shots, Seoul Foreign School was knocked out of the tournament for the first time in nine years.

At the same time, the Guardians had worked hard to make it through to the finals, playing all the teams that they had lost to in the regular season away - Osan Cougars and Seoul American Falcons (both DoDDs schools). With the advantage of the tournament being hosted at home ground, Captains Peter O'Grady (class of 2011) and Eugene So (class of 2010) were expected to make something happen - the last time they faced the Guardians on the same field, they had won 1-0. The Guardians pulled through first against Osan Cougars 2-0 (Yeram Byun class of 2011 with the first goal, Jonathan Park class of 2011 with the second), and second against the Falcons 3-1 (Jamie Ha with the first, Yeram Byun with the second, and Jonathan Park with the third). Under the captaincy of Tamas Lengyel (class of 2010) and Jonathan Park (class of 2011), the Guardians had their avenge, now it was time to win the title for the first time.

Goals scored:

1. Jonathan Park (Jona) *NOTE: first goal was scored in 4th minute
2. Harold Akwor *NOTE: the substitute scored only seconds after stepping onto the pitch.
3. Jamie Ha - assist: David Kim (DK)
4. Jimmy Kim - assist: Harold Akwor
5. Jimmy Kim - assist: David Kim (DK)
6. David Kim (DK)
7. Jimmy Kim - assist: Sam Ban *NOTE: Jimmy Kim's third complete hat trick of the season

The Yongsan International School of Seoul Guardians had made history by winning their first ever Division 1 KAIAC Tournament title in 20 years.

David Kim (DK) graduated as a part of the class of 2011 with a record-breaking total of 67 career goals and 47 career assists in his 5 years with the Guardians since 2005-2006 season.
