Kiteboarders seem like prime targets for human/shark encounter, even more so than surfers and boogie boarders. They're far enough from shore to be near feeding territories and their appearance, motions and speed, as seen from beneath the surface, makes them indistinguishable from food (seals, fish, etc). Shark sees a fast moving dark figure and then attacks. Sadly, many attacks begin from deep beneath surface as shark swims/shoots upwards like a torpedo. Boarders wouldn't even know what hit them
