Family members called the girl Day-Day. From handing her father tools at his Park City auto shop to wearing any high heels she could find, its clear the brown-eyed toddler was well on her way to having Dad wrapped around her finger.
She hardly ever got in trouble because if she did, shed have a look about her, says Daytonas father, Tommy Robertson. Then youd feel bad and pick her up and hug her.
Tragically and ironically, Katie Robertsons ( Stepmother to Daytona) own daughter, Kailee Hundley, died a month after Daytona when a daycare worker placed the one year-old in a car seat car seat that was too small. Following her own daughters death, Robertson attempted suicide, surviving but killing her unborn son.
With the death Daytona and his son Daylee, their father wishes that others could avoid the grief and heartbreak he has experienced.
Tommy Robertson says his family hopes to convince lawmakers to work on new laws regulating how child abuse is reported and how quickly its investigated.

I became a step parent to my 6y.o. son in 1990. I first met him when he was 4. I always treated him and loved him just like I had borne him. In 1994 I learned I couldn't have kids, and I loved him even MORE! I'll never understand why people harm children....never. :(
