  • In this day and age, it is in fact increasingly (and rightly) being seen as intolerant to be against gay marriage. The judicial branch is an important part of government, often neglected by your side, or brushed aside as "activist," but actually serving the important duty of determining the constitutionality of our nations' laws. We live in a REPUBLIC, not a pure democracy, so as to prevent tyranny of the majority. The rights of a minority should never be put to a direct vote.

  • Thanks for highlighting these clips. Even with the spooky music, the ACLU guy sounded far more just and sensible.

  • Where is your proof that same sex marriage is harmful? You have none. The rights of a minority group should not be decided by the majority. Eventually there will be marriage equality.

  • mr. dys is wrong. One of our founding fathers, James Madison, contemplated that the Constitution protects rights of the minority from the tyranny of the majority. Under the Constitution, there is separation of church and state. This was designed, by Madison et al., to avoid the enactment of laws based upon religious factors. Our founding fathers understood that such a scenario would result when majority is able to take away the rights of a minority.

  • This is not a matter of religious views. It is a matter of how best to function as a society. Same sex marriage is harmful to us as a society the same as drug use and pornography. It is absolutely the responsibility of the people to see that laws are passed for the common good and we should be allowed the opportunity to have a voice on this issue.

  • Paula in Lewisburg: Thank you Jeremy for soundly and clearly reminding the ACLU and the dear people of WV that we are a Government FOR the people and that we have A RIGHT to vote on this as well as other issues that affect us!

  • Excellent Jeremy. Thanks for standing up for Truth as well as the majority of West Virginians.

  • No, you are intolerant for trying to impose your religious beliefs on everyone else. Many Americans, gay and straight, support same-sex marriage. They believe that it is acceptable to God and many churches agree. Why are you not respecting their religious liberty? If you are against same-sex marriage, don't have one. But stop trying to use the government to prevent everyone else from having one.

  • This is cute! Thanks for the laugh; I needed it today.

    Bad political advocacy videos FTL!

  • Civil rights by their very nature are not subject to popular vote. If they were we would still have segregation and women would not be able to vote.

You are free to live by your religious beliefs if you choose, however you are not free to force others to live by your religious beliefs. If you are against same sex marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex. It's really that simple.

  • Wow. Good to know that Mr. Dys understands how the government/Constitution works. Did he not take civics in high school?
