After a little dialogue between Diane and Ernie, the girls sing an abridged version of The Happening. Love the halter gowns!

From the Tennessee Ernie Ford Special. The same show they performed 'Reflections' in the Chandlier gowns.

  • I'm feelin those dresses. But in the late 60's Diana Ross sure knew how to give a wig a I-just-got-outta-bed look

  • @soulsista1220 Funny you mentioned that. I can recall Mary saying that a great majority of their stylists at the time (both costume and hair) were gay and they just kept making the gowns flashier and the hair bigger and crazier.

  • USSPIKE , CAN YOU PLEASE POST THE OTHER PARTS WHERE DIANA/SUPREMES ARE ON THIS TENNESEE ERNIE FORD SPECIAL ? WOULD LOVE TO SEE ALL THE SEGMENTS WITH DIANA/SUPREMES THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY TO SEE A RARE VIDEO LIKE THIS THANK YOU!

  • @cub1955 I may do that at a later date. When I have time. I don't have much. I have: 'Reflections' in the chandlier gowns, A rendition of 'Old Mill Stream' (I didn't care much for this.) The happening in the halters, and a strange finale with Ernie, Diane, and Andy Griffith. (Didn't care much for this either.)

  • The harmonies @ 0:36-0:38 are excellent. It's very ironic, though, that as the group reached their signature fashion look from 1967-1969, the inner turmoil behind the scenes was at its worst. By now, the name change had happened and Motown went into overdrive to showcase Diana. Diana was too selfish at this point to care, and Berry was too focused on making her a star to listen to what Mary, Cindy and the fans wanted. The final show in 1970 was just a formality.

  • @shmuli9 , that was the "Old Mill Stream" segment. Instant favorite of mine. - love that clip

  • Miss Ross knew how to look good!

  • Yeah I would've loved to see what the Temps and Supremes would've been like had David and Flo's attitudes were more tamed. They were a strong part of each group and its a shame how they both helped destroy their stay within their groups. Seeing Flo in those glamorous gowns would've been something for me to drool over. She had that walk and just that look that says, "watch out baby!"

  • @Motownman100 It's either this one or The Hollywood Palace with Sammy Davis, Jr.

  • Those dresses are hot!

  • THE DRESSES ARE BAD !

  • @soulsista1220 She sho nuff did! Whew!

  • I guess thats what's happening

  • @usspike Gay hair-dressers are never over-the-top.

    Oh wait...
