The Collector Part 4

The Collector is an ongoing portrait of Christian, a lifetime collector who has "worked" the streets of his local town in Provence for the last 30 years. Every night, from midnight till dawn he makes a careful circuit of the town's dustbins and picks up things he considers useful. These are added to his ever-burgeoning collection which now fills the three plots of land he inherited from his grandparents.

The second part of the film revisits Christian after 3 years to find him adapting to new restrictions imposed by his nemesis, the town's mayor.

The film was made with the photographer Leonie Purchas.

This wanderfull man is firt wheel in proces called total recycling. He only need another companien which will repair heap of sorted scrap he made to something usefull and usable.. Heap of frame of bicycles you can with flex cutter and welding macihne turn into velomobiles, carts, recumbent bycycles. People often throw away things wich have for another big price(only few screws or drop of glue and you have working chair, table ....bycicle(combine 2-3 bikes discarted to one fully working.)

He is mentaly ill, but dont harm anybody. This is like our society takes down everybody who steps out of acepted line( dictate what is allright and diference will be punished). Only names and fasec are changing in this proces of eliminating,, Jesus Christ was one of this weird peoples, crowd has fear from diferent people,, it is easy to kill them..solution for everything. Unlucky this is in humans nature, its deep in our souls. Similar to triing to heal drug problem by prohibition :)

Thank you for sharing this film. Christian doesn't see life or live life like the rest of us, he is different, clearly.  It is sad because in order for him to live a life which makes sense to him, he has to live in fear of reprimand from the mayor. A problem for all hoarders eventually. He seems to gain pleasure from the objects he finds and seems to want to keep them in order that others may want or need them. In an another life, he would have been a shopkeeper?

This guys is really sick collecting useless things he might get some money from the scrap metal but he just colllects it and do nothing with it sad very sad
