So where I work I have about a 12" frosted glass barrier on top of my counter for privacy reasons. I found out today that a simple piece of scotch tape will make the opaque glass clear? It was quite strange.

    well frosted glass has microimperfections on the surface refracting light chaotically. my guess is the glue fills them and the plastic strip provides an uniform surface thus light passes coherently.

    Old pebbled glass could be defeated if you were on the bumpy side. Liquid rubber cement and a small piece of glass like a microscope slide would cancel out the bumps and make it quite clear. Then it could all be removed with no damage to the glass.
