California 4-H'ers are teaching restaurant owners and community members how they can "take a bite out of plastic pollution."
"Green Teens" and 4-H'ers Clay Ferguson, Chance Boreczky, Jack Boreczky, and Sarah Rivers are educating local restaurants, consumers, and public officials in their hometown of San Leandro, California about the plastic pollution problem, and offering solutions by showing them alternative products they can use.
For the past four years, the 4-H'ers have worked to raise awareness about recycling and environmental sustainability. From performing "Something to Chew On" -- an educational skit they created to help elementary students learn how important and easy it is to have a waste-free lunch -- to hosting a table display at their local farmers market, the 4-H Green Teens have creatively engaged and educated their community and urged citizens to make simple changes to help conserve and recycle every day. Today, the 4-H'ers are seen as leaders in the community and are often called on as resources for educational programs, presentations, and recycling projects.
