Teochew Opera: 破镜重圆 2

Lady Guan goes to the temple to offer prayers for the safety of the man she loves, General Xu. They met 16 yrs ago and had a very brief romantic encounter, but events out of their control has separated them for 16 years. Now she is worried for his well being - for her present husband is the evil Prime Minister whom she was forced to marry. The Prime Minister considers General Xu an arch enemy, and having framed him for attempting to poison the new Emperor, he now has an imperial mandate to capture him. General Xu comes to the temple too, and the long-separated lovers meet by chance. He is unaware that she is now the wife of his deadly enemy. Sixteen years of separation have not doused their mutual love.

National Grade I Performer 刘小丽 as Lady Guan, and young laosheng 黄眏伟 as General Xu. The GuangDong Province Teochew Opera Academy First Company 广东潮剧院一团, performing on 16th Dec 2011 at the Kreta Ayer Peoples' Theatre, Singapore. This was the final night of their 7-day opera season here.
