  • A choir should never be judged based on some notion that "maturity" (whatever that word means) is a desirable or even necessary element to choral singing. I know that the Augustana Choir does not strive for a "mature" sound, but instead values focus and precision. The Augustana Choir's sharp diction and meticulous attention to detail is exciting to the ear and brings the text a fresh breath of life. A "mature" sound would only muddy the invigorating, impelling timbre of the group.

  • Yes, true to the fine tradition at Augustana College. Beautifully sung. Seamless rendition!

    Thanks for posting it.

  • I think this is a smart tempo to take...the long lines are more clearly delineated, and unlike the string quartet version (or orch version), that is a much more urgent consideration. Vocal color and intonation and interpretation is top-notch, as is the usual case at Augustana.

  • Incredibly challenging piece, pulled off splendidly. Shame it's so fast, I'd love to rest in some of those harmonies much longer.

  • A wonderful Lutheran choir singing in a beautiful Lutheran church!

  • @haugwi01 hahaha tell THAT to the conductor of the Vienna Boys choir. To each his own I suppose. I say let college students sound youthful and sprightly. Let the 40-year-olds in the church choir sound hooty.

  • Wonderful singing. I graduated in 2005. Good times!

  • A very talented group indeed... No matter how many times I may listen to this reguardless of what mood I am in, it still brings a tear to my eye. The beauty and power in the voice of so many brings me to my knees. I only wish I could have been there in person to have experienced it.

  • It was an incredible privilege to have sung in this choir in the mid-seventies when Don Morrison was the conductor. It is moving to hear that the Augustana College Choir tradition lives on to this day.

  • I can only thank you for posting this. How beautiful.

  • beautiful!

  • i have listen to this a million time in the past 3 days...I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG!!!
