Ride along in a 600+hp EVO as Dave and Allison Kern take you up to the summit of Pikes Peak with a few mishaps along the way.
This is the full race run and there are some definite spots to keep an eye on!

  • What a mess...

  • @duttydag Yeah, I don't know what's up with that corner, but 1 quad and two cars went off there. Another car broke down there too. It really just was kinda nuts

  • @JoshMcGuckin

Seat time and some adjustments to suspension and differentials (center and rear) would make that thing turn a little better.. IMHO just a bit too much shifting which could be being careful or some handling issues.. But valiant effort non the less..It takes some attachments to even attempt, which you didnt give up and completed.. kudos to you an the navi, Enjoyed watching the climb, better luck next time.. Bless.

  • @duttydag Well, it isn't me, that is the car of Dave and Allison Kern aka RaceKern. They are a very dedicated and determined duo and it is incredible what they can do with the car with minimal support. They do still hold the record for TA 4wd as well!

  • @JoshMcGuckin sorry I didn't get any video all I have is my phone and it was dead but if you get a hold of bla102 he might be able to get you the shot he had a pretty badass shot there.

  • @5hippystick No worries! I contacted Bla102 but haven't heard back. The roof cam vantage didn't really do much for it. Next year I think I am going to focus on Race day cameras and I think we are going to use a wing mount camera like we did during practice week. We'll see what we can work out. If I can get organized ahead of time it would be awesome to get a group of people focused on the goal of shooting specific corners on race day so i don't have to trek the whole mountain… we'll see…

  • Awesome. Drove that car to peices to make it to the top. Congratulations.

  • @duttydag - We put the "new to us" suspension on the car just a few weeks before the Pikes Peak and got rained out on the one testing day we were able to squeeze in. Colorado tracks are booked up in the summer, and with a 9-5 job, vacation days are hard to come by. The car fought us all through practice with lots of understeer, but with no time to try different spring rates, we had to make due with tweaking alignment, ride height, and valving knobs. Got it OK, but I'm not satisfied with it.

  • great finish dave, can't wait till next year

  • @JoshMcGuckin I told him you are going to get a hold of him so he should get back to you soon. I could help with the footage next year if you want. I know its going to 100% tarmac next year and need a new spot anyways. So just let me know.

  • @JoshMcGuckin I understand about the getting different vantages and sorry if I came off as an a-hole I was just disappointed when I wasn't able to see the corner from the roof cam.
