@1221solstice2012 Thank you for understanding! Luckily I do not have to do this really heartbreaking operation very often. At the moment I have a cat at home that might be pregnant. The owner wants her spayed, I told him to wait until the kittens are born and two additional months. You can imagine how much work this means to me. I shall find new owners for the kittens through the shelter. I have done this before. But there are limits. You cannot save them all.

@wuuggfi Thank you; yes birth control pills/hormones cause problems, so spaying neutering remain the best thing. I know how rough it must be to have to abort those tiny kittens :-( ...heartbreaking decisions we have to make.

@1221solstice2012 There is a pill actually, a hormone. You can give this to your cat and she will not get pregnant. BUT these pills are dangerous, they can cause cancer and other problems. Spaying is the best and most humane solution. Anestesia is not a problem for cats, mostly young ones, even the wound does not bother them much provided you administer painkillers for one day and antibiotics against infection. What is so awful here is that I HAVE to kill these unborn kittens.

I couldn't bear to look at all the blood in the previous 2 videos of this series, and so sad about the kittens, but better not to be born into this world, and think of all the kittens they could have had in future. I wonder if there will ever be an easier way to sterilize animals such as a pill. Thank you for your hard work and for preventing thousands of poor cats being born down the line.

In the end you can see my son Oliver who was filming the whole operation. Actually he should not be there because this is the beginning of one of his own videoclips. But there he is...
Do you have a license to be doing this??? I dont think its legal in the US.

@GorrillyGirl I am a veterinary surgeon. Noone BUT a veterinary surgeon is able to do this really difficult operation which is almost a Sectio Caesarea. Unfortunately you often get cats for spaying that are pregnant, the owner has no idea. But of course the kittens are not wellcome. If you refuse to do the spaying you may cause even more suffering. This is completely legal by the way.

@GorrillyGirl It's legal in the US for a vet to spay a pregnant cat. I use to catch cats to take in for spaying and one was pregnant. I took the time to tame her and then gave away the kittens. But sometimes that isn't possible. It's so much more expensive to spay a pregnant cat.

@ShaylaMafia It is a lot more difficult and riskier to spay a pregnant cat and I myself do not ask more money for it because I often get these cats from shelters. They just do not have room for all these pregnant cats to give birth when the time comes. Only sometimes and mostly when the pregnancy is almost at its end the cat is allowed to have her kittens. I myself have taken in such cats, usually twice a year. That means I have to provide for this cat family at least for 3 months.
