@skruvjern Thats actually exactly it, at that time they hadn't decided on Macgyver to be Anti-gun yet. and so, he used a gun.

@MarsKitten Pilot episodes usually differ a lot from the rest of the show as we know it. This is an early episode where they probably hadn't decided yet that Mac would refuse to use guns at all times.

The whole thing about Mac not using guns was because he (R.Dean Anderson) didn't want kids immitating him and possibly getting hurt. There was some kids that did one of Mac's gimmicks and got seriously injured during the shows first season. They then made up the story for Mac that he accidently shot one of his friends as a kid to explain his stand on guns. However Mac was also in Nam according to another ep so.......But Richard is a big gun control advocate in real life.

This is the first episode, or the pilot of the show. The funny thing is that Mac's going to rescue a crashed pilot. BTW the epsiode is also called Pilot. Since it was the first, they may not had planned that Mac would hate guns. I did'nt see it the first time, but when I had watched Macgyver for some while I noticed it right away. They send it on TV all over in Norway.

O__O That... that has to be some kind of error they never fixed. That's just... Mac shooting? I know it's just a tv show, but you watch all the episodes and you really get into it you just can't believe some stuff. And that's just crazy.
