John 3:16 is part of the culture of football. We occasionally see it on signs in end zones after field goals and extra point attempts; on players' tape and tattoos; and Tim Tebow was famous for writing it in his eye black. And yet, many fans don't know what it means. They have yet to be touched by the hope it offers - the immediate relevance it has to their lives.

The original goal of LookUp 316 was to air a national commercial during Super Bowl XLV on February 6th, 2011. When the organization took this idea to Fox Sports, host network of this year's Super Bowl, they rejected the commercial on the basis that it contained "religious doctrine."

Fixed Point will now be airing this commercial in Alabama during this year's Super Bowl on February 6th, 2011.

  • Was watching the Bronco's game today and saw the John 3:16 commercial and was just like wow . . . That's pretty awesome for this to be on national tv! I'm sure ppl were upset by it, but the gospel isn't about making ppl feel good it's about truth and bringing ppl to Christ. "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" - that's John 3:16, that's how much God loves you

  • did anyone just see the John 3:16 commercial, during the denver game??

  • @billy936 How do you oppose? I support it by Biblical proof.

  • @Yeahthatslife16 premise: "the christian god is the only living god". How do you support this?

  • The Christian God is the only living God therefore He is the only one that can speak. However He is not speaking to His people on earth now. The time of direct revelation has ceased because He has given us everything we need in His Word, the Bible.

  • @quadrupleplay I would still like to know what makes the Christian god "painfully obvious". Is it just that you think he's the only one who could communicate outside of his own religion?

  • Are you suggesting that only the Christian god claims to speak to people outside of his own religion? That's not true. Also, "religious" experiences aren't evidence. Sort of like how halucinations aren't evidence, or like how you don't trust most abduction stories. Humans are imaginative creatures, we are fearful creatures, and we are addicted to feeling that we "know" what's going on. So much so that we combine our fears and emotions with a very limited knowledge to create superstition.

  • @quadrupleplay I'm pretty interested in hearing how any specific deity is "painfully obvious".

  • @billy936: Just because everybody who has ever believed in any deity believes theirs is real doesn't mean there's not something there; in fact, it might actually help solve the problem of what's actually there. God could be manifest in all religions to a degree, if perhaps only completely in one, and since every group reports some kind of religious experience, it's quite plausible; if so, it's painfully obvious which god fits the bill. Choose wisely.

  • @Yeahthatslife16 says every theist who ever believed in any specific god.
