  • I think the anvil is what you call a cutlers stand.

(have a search for 'cutler's hammer' too)

The guy's hammer is a beast too.

    & agreed, warhead's a fanny

  • 1 guy still alive that can make a bowie and a camando knife and a frowing knife me :)

  • Excellent, love it. First time I have seen a bow drill being used that I can recall. Thanks for posting.

    Regards.

  • Can anyone identify when this was filmed? Certainly post WWII, but some of the visual cues I'm seeing indicate to me it could have been made as late as the 70s.

  • Thank you for that.

    Good to see.

When the electricity stops one day, these skills will be in great demand. Just a pity that the old ways are not being taught to younger folk. So many skills will be lost forever soon.

  • What a wonderful film thanks for posting

  • @MrJanesaddiction

    I got mine on ebay.

    Some are very old.

  • Thanks for posting this to me,,I did see it about 4 months ago but still noticed new things when seen again like the pressure stick used on the grind wheel for downward force..a fine period film that shows the different trades needed at that time to produce a tool.

  • Was that I*XL knives?

I have a small collection of them.
