I came across another old film clip of The Big Easy's Mardi Gras parade. This one is from sometime in the early 1950's and has a nice mixture of floats, marchers and the resplendently dressed crowds.
We have some other Mardi Gras videos for you to enjoy;

  • Fabulous clip !!!!! It's heartbreaking it's not in better resolution ......... It's a clip of the REX parade on Mardi Gras morning. REX is King of Carnival. His traditional scarlet and gold float is shown stopped in front of the Boston Club on Canal Street ( club for snooty blue bloods...LOL ) Here he toasts his Queen of Carnival.

    It's got to be the mid 50's because tractors are pulling the floats, not mules.

    Wonderful shot at 1:35 of gorilla costumes made out of spanish moss... a tradition.

  • Thanks the clip was from the (otherwise forgettable) movie Swamp Women. It was so good it needed to be presented on its own. Glad you also enjoyed it.

    Can you provide more background on those gorilla costumes? What do they mean?

  • @50420052908 Looks like NOLA today after Katrina, don't it? The clips are from

    an old movie and back in the day Hollywood wouldn't have nobody but whites in the

    streets. Strictly segregationist.

    BEFORE KATRINA African-Americans OWNED New Orleans!

    Now they trying to peddle their LIES that N.O. is WHITE.

    N.O. is white like Louis Armstrong was white! As for the rich sh*t hogs who

    tore down black peoples' homes to build condos,

    I wouldn't piss on their chest if their heart was on fire.

  • @50420052908 you didn't see the gorilla suits.

  • Check All 'em Crackers Out ! NO DISRESPECT TO YA MINDSIMEDIA IM JUST STATING THE TRUTH FACTS. WHERES THE AFRICANS BLACKS .................

  • Oh, they mean nothing, Darling !

    It's a tradition in New Orleans to make a Big Frightful gorilla costume out of a scary, fuzzy, gray, material .......... spanish moss !!!!! It's a very popular Mardi Gras costume .... and this clip captured it SO well !!!!!!

    Thanks for the Post !!!
